My name is Jerry W. Zimmerle and I am the owner/co-founder of CarStudio. Terry Dougherty is my friend and also owner/co-founder of CarStudio. Terry manages the day to day aspects of our first site and has owned/operated a car wash for the last fifteen years. When he opened that business the population in our town was less than 25,000 and is now approximately 35,000. There are three other car washes within three miles of our location and various other places in the valley. One place is a mile away and washes cars for $10, our prices start at $40. Terry not only provides a better service he has watched dozens of people fail in the car wash business just in our little town. Terry started this business in the dusty, windy desert town of dirt and gravel roads when people told him he was crazy. “This town doesn’t even have a traffic signal and you are opening a car wash”. “The town is all dirt roads, what’s the point”. Terry has pulled off an amazing feat and if you think your town is wrong or there is too much competition think again. Terry can and will see you through.

I moved to Pahrump , Nevada fifty miles outside Las Vegas in 1994. I started with La-Z-Boy Las Vegas four days later and I’m presently employed there. I know what you are about to go through as a franchisee. I have a range of emotions for you and I am excited. You have a partner in your business when you buy a franchise from us. You have someone that has been exactly where you’re at with the same products and the same issues. We have already made the mistakes that you can now avoid. I also understand that you may be worried about the franchise. What it does mean to have these rules, procedures, etc…

I would like to tell you about our beginnings and about us. I wish to relieve the stress and bring confidence to you about your project. We want you to know everything about this business and ourselves. In years of hiring, training, partnering etc... with other people, simply getting to know people is the most effective means of finding great partners. Statistics are great, work histories are even better. However nothing beats getting to know how someone thinks, what motivates them and what triggers their behaviors. Here is what I would consider a lengthy but informative intro. I’ve left out things like I have no patience and that I have a short temper. I have basically listed attributes so you can get to know us. Here goes;

Terry and I started our friendship through his company “Pahrump Valley Mobile Wash”. I owned a home and had five children. Commuting, parenting and soccer didn’t leave much time to wash the cars so I became one of Terry’s regular customers. It wasn’t cheap but Terry did great work. I found out he had a diverse back ground, he had done the corporate thing, the Mercedes, the suit and the tie.

He sold out and bought a ranch. He wanted to breathe fresh air and enjoyed washing people’s car. It made him money and made them both happy. Terry did not have to be in the corporate world again. (I fixed that dream for him)

We got to know each other better and he met my family. I started helping him with my car’s just so we could talk. We started hanging out and my son got an Estes Rocket for Christmas. My family and Terry went to the nearest soccer field and shot a little rocket that went a 100 feet in the air, floated back to earth and it was a blast, how cool.

A year and a couple of months later we built an eleven foot rocket that went 720 miles an hour, 7800 feet in the air and floated safely back to earth, all fifty pounds. This feat entitled us to a level three rocketry license something that very few people had ever achieved. We had to study, build the rockets from scratch, obtain levels one/two and even got launch clearance from the FAA for the level three project. Creating and following procedure for that project was the foundation that truly taught me to do the same in my professional life. Rigorous, professional, do it right the first time because there is only one shot.

Terry and I have built a long range rifles that is accurate up to a mile, difficult with a .308 cartridge. We like to have fun the more involved the better. We consider this franchise fun as well.

Terry in his spare time saves the lives of others as the Vice Commander of the Nye County Search and Rescue. Terry was brand new less than three years ago and now oversees one of the largest counties in the state. He is on call 24/7 and when a call comes in he gets in the Jeep and goes.

While Terry aids the sheriff’s office, I have been the assistant Treasurer of my church, served on the stewardship committee and started the Disciplinary Board for Nye County Schools. Two of my children are in college, one in high school, one in middle school and one in the fourth grade. I have a guitar studio in my home. I have learned to play, write, record, produce and I engineered a show for over 400 people last Christmas. I started it as a hobby a couple of years ago.

Terry also operates a “No Kill” animal shelter on his ranch. 64 dogs, 90 cats, 7 peacocks, 9 geese, dozens of wild ducks, chickens and I am sure “a partridge in a pear tree”. He has procured food from major pet food manufacturers all over the country and coordinates the volunteers that it takes to properly care for this staggering amount of animals.

Terry built a home on his ranch for his parents, father recently deceased. God rest his soul. Terry now cares for his mother and she is an avid part of the ranch and the animal rescue effort. Terry has lunch with her almost every day.

We both spend our time with our families in the evening.

We have been successful in business but I personally think some of the things we have done as entertainment and service to the community has taught us the most. People that can work together on this level might be considered as someone you can trust to help you accomplish your business goals. I am honored to talk to you today and represent what will become one of the greatest companies of all time. The reason is simple. We will partner with the best people, use the best products and simply serve people better. We will create things together that we can not create alone. We will constantly improve our way of doing business by using the collective genius of our partners. We dream big, think big and most important we believe what we dream and think. Helping people to achieve their dreams is the icing on the cake and is the very reason we started this company. Terry and I already had income from other sources. We did not do this to simply make more money.
